Privacy Policy

Short version: Every tool runs entirely in your browser. Your files, text, and data never leave your device. Only basic, anonymous analytics are collected to understand how the site is used.

1. What ToolBrigade Is

ToolBrigade is a free browser-based tools site at toolbrigade.com, built and maintained by one developer.

2. Data That Is NOT Collected

Because all tools run in your browser using JavaScript, the following is never collected, stored, or processed:

  • ✓Any files you upload (images, PDFs, documents)
  • ✓Any text you type or paste into tools
  • ✓Any output generated by tools
  • ✓Personal information of any kind
  • ✓Account credentials (there are no accounts)

3. Data That Is Collected

Minimal, anonymous data is collected to operate and improve the site:

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

ToolBrigade uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data — page views, session duration, device type, and country. GA4 is configured with IP anonymisation. This data cannot identify you individually and is never linked to file contents or tool outputs. GA4 sets cookies in your browser (see the Cookie Policy for details).

Theme Cookie

Your theme preference (light/dark mode) is stored in a theme cookie. This data never leaves your device.

Tool Suggestion Form (Resend)

When you submit the suggest-a-tool form, the data you enter — tool name, description, category (optional), and email (optional) — is sent to me via Resend (resend.com), a transactional email service. Resend processes this data solely to deliver the email. Resend retains email metadata (sender, recipient, subject, timestamp) for up to 30 days; message body content is not retained after delivery. Only what you explicitly type is sent — no file contents, no browsing history. The contact page uses direct mailto links and does not involve Resend. Resend's privacy policy: resend.com/privacy.

Server Logs

The web server automatically logs standard HTTP request data (browser type, referring URL, timestamp). Logs are retained for up to 30 days for security purposes and are not shared with third parties.

4. Cookies

ToolBrigade uses minimal cookies. Analytics cookies are set to distinguish users and sessions. No advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party marketing cookies are used. See the Cookie Policy for full details.

5. Third-Party Services

The following third-party services are used:

  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymous usage analytics (page views, session data, device type, country). No personal data or file contents are sent.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery for the suggest-a-tool form. Processes tool name, description, category, and email (all optional except tool name and description) when you explicitly submit that form. The contact page uses direct mailto links and does not involve Resend.
  • Hosting & CDN — website delivery infrastructure
  • exchangerate-api.com — live exchange rates for the Currency Converter tool only. Only the source currency code is sent in the API request URL. No personal data is transmitted.
  • ip-api.com — IP geolocation data for the IP Address Lookup tool only. When you use that tool, the IP address you query (which may be your own public IP if you leave the field blank) is sent to ip-api.com's servers to perform the lookup. No other personal data is transmitted. ip-api.com is a free geolocation service used under their non-commercial free tier. See their terms at ip-api.com/docs/legal.
  • CoinGecko API — live cryptocurrency prices for the Crypto Price Converter tool only. When you click Convert in that tool, a request is made to CoinGecko's free public API (api.coingecko.com) containing only the coin ID and target currency code. No personal data is transmitted. CoinGecko's free public API requires no API key and allows approximately 30 requests per minute. See CoinGecko's privacy policy at coingecko.com/en/privacy.
  • Google Speech Recognition (Chrome / Chromium browsers) — used exclusively by the Speech to Text tool. When you use that tool in Chrome or any Chromium-based browser, your microphone audio is sent to Google's speech-recognition service for processing. This is a browser-level behaviour built into the Web Speech API (SpeechRecognition) and cannot be overridden by ToolBrigade. ToolBrigade itself receives none of this audio — it goes directly from your browser to Google. This is the sole exception to ToolBrigade's “nothing leaves your device” policy. Do not use the Speech to Text tool for sensitive, confidential, or private speech. The tool displays a prominent warning before you start recording.

5a. Speech to Text — Special Privacy Exception

This section describes the one exception to ToolBrigade's “nothing leaves your device” policy.

The Speech to Text tool uses the browser's built-in SpeechRecognition API (part of the Web Speech API standard). In Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, etc.), this API sends your microphone audio stream to Google's speech-recognition servers for processing. This is a browser-level behaviour that ToolBrigade cannot control or override.

  • ToolBrigade's servers receive none of your audio.
  • Google processes the audio stream and returns a text transcript to your browser.
  • Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • The tool displays a prominent warning before you start recording.

Do not use the Speech to Text tool for sensitive, confidential, medical, legal, or private speech.

ToolBrigade is not directed at children under 13. No personal information from children is knowingly collected. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact me and it will be deleted promptly.

7. Your Rights

Since minimal personal data is collected, there is little to request. However, you have the right to:

  • Request information about what data is held about you
  • Request deletion of any personal data held
  • Opt out of analytics tracking

8. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of ToolBrigade after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
